Lance Jenner, Paul Wright, Paul Psaila and Pamela Cohen from the OLYMPIC CLUB won the final of the Auckland Champion Fours from Barry Kinnaird, Jenny Stockford, Adrienne and Graeme Taiaroa on Saturday.

The final was all tied up 6-6 two thirds into the game but the winners found another gear to win going away.

26 teams participated and this is an increase of 9 teams on 2010. Tom Morton was Umpire and Bev Webber Tournament Controller.

There were 8 qualifiers and the beaten semi-finalists were Irene Topliss (Olympic) and John Rayner from the Oratia Club. Of note the Oratia Club is 1 of the smaller clubs within the Centre.

The lowering of entry fee for the Juniors has made a definite impact with quite a few teams bringing on some of our up and coming talent.

JUNIOR CHAMPION DEFENDS TITLE, but A LOT OF PROMISE FROM THE BEATEN BRIGADE

Teri Anderson from the Te Atatu Club was in a rich vein of form in beating Petero Aneterea comfortably in the Final.

There were 8 entries and the only other qualifier was Zac Smith. However all the juniors deserve a mention as the standard of bowls was very good.

Daniel Psaila, Anthony Atiau Jnr., Tuarei Aneterea, Davey and Nelic Korua showed lots of promise and it was just their lack of experience which cost them.

A big thank you to Rosemary Stephenson who Umpired and the parents and supporters who came along.

LADIES and MENS’ FOURS CHAMPIONS DECIDED

His team was Colin Taylor, Patrick Morrison and Bruce Porter and they play out of the Te Atatu Club.Of note this is Porters 1st Tournament outside of regular Club play. Mills' support crew were Noel Loudon, George Paice and Colin Adams.
